PHILAFILM, in association with the MILITARY CHANNEL, presents "A Tribute To African American Veterans", Sunday, February 3rd, 2013, at the world-renowned BARNES FOUNDATION, 20th street & Ben Franklin Parkway in downtown Philadelphia.
Two (2) screenings of the EMMY-nominated and PHILAFILM BEST Documentary award-winning film,"The Wereth Eleven", kick off the day's events. First screening is at 10:00am - 11:20am, followed by "A Conversation With The Director, ROB CHILD", 11:30pm - 12:15pm. Rob will greet the audience and discuss the making of the film. At 12:30pm, a Veterans' Panel discussion focusing on issues affecting veterans during, and after service. Facilitating this activity...Dr. William H. Harris, Ph.D., a 91 year-old, WW II combat "Vet", Richard Scott, Commander, Post 175, Doylestown VFW, Doylestown, PA., and George Lindsey, Chaplain, Post 175, Doylestown VFW.
Special invitations were extended to the VA Hospitals in Philadelphia and Coatesville, PA. An enthusiastic response and support from the Communications and Public Relations offices of both facilities was received,
prompting an anticipated strong presence from out-patient, and facility-bound veterans alike.
Because of PECO Energy's "First Free Sundays at the BARNES" sponsorship, admission for the general public is FREE from 1 pm - 6 pm. The event is part of PECO's themed program for Black History Month.
Robert Child, a prior resident of Bucks County, is currently touring schools and universities during Black History month to spread awareness of the film. Robert has also been commissioned to produce and direct the upcoming 150th Anniversary of Gettysburg documentary, which will feature a live reenactment of over 20,000 soldiers and an anticipated 70,000 spectators.

Thanks to Solebury School
I was told that the faculty and students at Solebury had a focus and a keen interest in history and they really seemed to enjoy it. In fact a group of students came up after the presentation to ask more questions and say say that they thought it was, "cool". High praise indeed and I'm so glad they enjoyed it! I look forward to my next visit to Solebury.
